Asian Youth Fellowship

The Japan Foundation offer scholarship to study Japanese language for Asian students who wish to pursue master degree or doctoral degree in Japan and intend to contribute to regional cooperation after obtaining Master or Ph.D degree.

The grantees will take the preparatory course will be held at the Japanese Language Institute for about 7 months in Kansai, Osaka staring from July 2009 to February 2010. After that they will be matriculated into Japanese universities as Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho) scholarship students.

Fields of study are humanities, social sciences, engineering, and natural sciences. The study area must be in the same field as the applicant has studied or currently studying.

The grant cover:
  • Expenses necessary for participation in the official curriculum (transportation, teaching material, etc.)
  • Meals during the program and a set amount of allowances to cover miscellaneous living expenses.
  • Accommodation at the institute.
  • Overseas travel insurance for disease and injury for the duration of the program.
  • Round-trip, economy-class airline between the nearest Airport from your residence and Kansai International Airport (Osaka, Japan) on the most direct and economical route.
  • Japanese visa as a trainee.

  • Transcript (3 copy)
  • Reference from dean or academic advisor (1 copy)
